Because she is up to her ass in alligators in the notorious Amirault child sex abuse case that wasn't.  She kept an innocent man in jail.

Can Someone Tell Me Why…

by Gunpowder Chronicle 30 December 2009 12:36 PM

Can someone tell me why, when US citizens stand up to terrorists “mid-flight” to take down terrorists and and stop an attack, they are hailed as heroes, but if a US citizen wants to own a firearm (and carry it) for their own protection and the protection of others, they are considered a gun nut?

Why is an act of defensive violence hailed in one instance and not the other?  Especially when the violence and terrorism of domestic crime is such a more direct threat to us all?

Barack Obama, the Un-American President

by Gunpowder Chronicle 28 December 2009 11:50 AM

President Barack Obama is a traitor.  Period.  He has, with the flourish of a pen, signed an executive order granting INTERPOL – an organization once flush with Nazis and headed by Reinhard Heydrich (author of the Wansee Protocol, the actual document declaring the “Final Solution”) – rights on American soil that that place it beyond the reach of our own law enforcement agencies and outside the Constituional regulations that protect American citizens.

As Andy McCarthy at NRO has noted:

This international police force (whose U.S. headquarters is in the Justice Department in Washington) will be unrestrained by the U.S. Constitution and American law while it operates in the United States and affects both Americans and American interests outside the United States.

That means a US serviceman could be charged with a war crime, arrested by INTERPOL on US soil, and denied each and every Constitutional protection they fought and bled to defend.  The right to an attorney, protections against unreasonable search and seizure, the right to a speedy trial, a jury by a trial of their peers, etc.  Forget about his Article 32 rights under the UCMJ, too.  All of these are gone.

There are and would be no restraints against what INTERPOL could do.  No judicial intervention or review.  Nothing. Nada. Zip.  Short of a governor or local LEO (law enforcement officer) willing to order his own police into an armed confrontation with INTERPOL agents, there is nothing that would stop INTERPOL from arresting a US citizen and transporting them to places unknown for whatever trial might be in the offing.

Such an act as signing this executive order surrenders US sovereignty is a blatant and horrendous – abominable – violation of his oath of office.

This is why  you shouldn’t elect second-rate political hacks with mob ties and daddy issues.

Baltimore Versus Boston

by Gunpowder Chronicle 16 December 2009 12:14 PM

Something to think about this time of year is the murder count in the City of Baltimore.  I use the term "murder count" because I am interested in the raw numbers.  Using "murder rate" implies a per capita view -- killings per 1,000 -- in order to compare wildly disparate cities (ie, Salisbury, MD v New York City).

Here is something to think about:  as of today, Baltimore City has seen 224 homicides.  Boston -- which has about 40,000 LESS residents and thus makes a good comparison  -- has witnessed 45 homicides this year.

Baltimore is a city out of control.  I don't care if Sheila The Shoe stole $500 in gift cards.  I care that 224 people -- no matter what stuff they might have been into -- are dead.  I care that the city of Baltimore is not safe after dusk.  I care that not only do I have drive defensively in a city where red-light running is pandemic, I have to watch the "corner boys" so I don't get caught in the crossfire.

You want to punish Sheila and Stephanie and the rest of the elected dumbasses in the city for something?  Punish them for their inability to stop the bleeding.  Punish them for spending money on uniforms for the 311 call center while emergency vehicles look like they just left a bumper car derby.

Punish them for only offering excuses, and not solutions.

Punish them five times for five times as many murders as Boston.

University System of Maryland Auditor Charged with Fraud

by Gunpowder Chronicle 23 September 2009 10:34 AM

What do you do when the people tasked with keeping an eye on everyone else start stealing from you? The Baltimore Sun reports that a University System auditor has been charged with inflating hours.  It’s not really a lot of money – and I am surprised that someone at an auditor’s level isn’t classified as “exempt”.  Which is why, when I submit my timesheet (and I am exempt), I also put the *actual* hours worked.  Those are legal documents after all, no matter what my IRS status might be.
