Admiral Mike Mullen was swore in as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs on Monday, taking over from Marine General Peter Pace.  I think the promotion of Adminiral Mullen to the JCS Chair -- immediately after a Marine General -- highlights the increasing importance of the Naval Service to what has been termed the "Long War".  The United States Naval Service represents the penultimate in power projection.  A United States Carrier represents  three acres of sovereign US territory that can be deployed almost anywhere in the world-- and its airwing represents air power more powerful than most other nations' entire air forces.

But you have big shoes to fill, and a huge task to fulfill.

Early this week, I talked about the Wagner Wellness Van.  I wanted to give you an update on just a couple of donations and pledges the project has received:

$20,000 from Barton Malow/SPN, the construction managers on the Layfield Tower and the Cancer Center.

$20,000 from the emergency physicians group that staffs the Emergency Room & Trauma Center at PRMC.

$50,000 from CareFirst, the state's largest private health insurance group.
