Frederick County's new policy of inqiuring on the immigration status of people they arrest is drawing fire from CASA of Maryland, including some seriously trumped up figures of costs.  The truth is always the first casualty in the immigration fight.

According to the Washington Post, Maryland's Illegal Immigrant community is suddenly feeling the heat and is claiming Maryland is becoming "less friendly".

Victory does come in the small steps and not the large leaps.

Barack Obama has released a new position paper on Illegal Immigration, and his major proposal to solve the issue.

Beginning just sixty days after he takes office, the US Government will pay for Senator Edward M. Kennedy to drive immigrants into over the Rio Grande in Southwest Texas.

This is part of Barak Obama's plan to bring hope to government, by turning negatives into positives!

As if passing a worthless, feckless stimulus bill that will not help any taxpayer was bad enough, John Boehner (R-OH) and Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) today issued a joint statement of facile stupidity:

The legislation that we authored, and which passed the House Tuesday with overwhelming bipartisan support, would not allow any taxpayer funds to be distributed to illegal immigrants. In fact, the bill includes language similar to the provisions included in the 2001 and 2003 tax relief bills to prevent illegal immigrants from receiving any benefits. We will take legislative action to clarify and underscore this prohibition so we can expedite the rebates to millions of eligible Americans.

Except that it does no such thing, because resident aliens who have overstayed their visas illegally -- yet still have valid Social Security Numbers -- will get these checks.  Why?  Because the IRS is not allowed to inquire of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency as to the validity of someone's resident status.

Digger's Realm has put together an outstanding montage of Dr. Juan Hernandez, John McCain's new National Director of Hispanic Outreach:

Listen as this "dual citizen" slowly ratchets up the number of illegals actually living here in the US.

My favorite line:  "Of course they are using illegal documents, they can't get legal ones."  Duh, you think?

Folks, this is the man who will run John McCain's immigration strategy if he wins.  There can be no doubt about that.

Rock on to some more reasonable members of the General Assembly, who have wisely introduced a bill that prevents the Motor Vehicle Administration from issuing a driver's license, state ID, or moped operator's license to illegal aliens.  House Bill 288 would require anyone seeking such a license who was before after December 1, 1964 to present proof of legal residence in the United States.

Please say it ain't so.  Unfortunately it appears to be true.

Good to know that the President and his subordinates are really working hard to "protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America."

I voted for the man twice.  Yes, in both cases, it really was the lesser of two evils.  And I have like some of the things he has done.

But if he doesn't get his head out of his trousers soon, I might stop stepping up for him.

STOP HIRING FRAKKING ILLEGAL ALIENS!

Ever since Hillary Clinton's doublespeak debate event last week over NY Governor Eliot Spitzer's new "Driver's Licenses for Illegals" program, there has been much said about the complete lunacy behind such programs.  Why?  Well, thanks to the left's vaunted "Motor Voter" act in the 90's, states are now REQUIRED to provide voter applications to anyone granted a driver's license.

Smart people immediately realize the danger here:  if you give a driver's license to anyone who wants one, and you don't verify their legality, then you open the voter registration rolls to all sorts of corruption.

The Left in this country says "oh no you don't." Unfortunately, you do.  As we found out after 9/11...

It seems like Immigration and Customs Enforcement might finally be doing their job, as Elvira Arellano has been arrested in Los Angeles.  She's been under a deportation order since August 15, 2006, but has been hiding out in a United Methodist Church in Chicago since then.

Michelle Malkin has more.

I wonder what Michael Chertoff will have to say about this year's lettuce crop now.
