With the essential ending of Congressional business for 2008, we can look back over the last two years of Democrat leadership and see how its gone.

The best news out of the collapse of Warner-Lieberman this week in the US Senate is that we will still have a railroad industry.  The impact on railroads was largely overlooked in the debate, but the fact is that if Warner-Lieberman had passed, three of the nation's four largest railroads would have collapsed.

And that would have been bad, very bad.

With oil jumping $11 in one day to close just above $138.40 a barrel, Americans are wondering "What the hell?" as gasoline surges well beyond the cost of a gallon of milk.  I have long believed that the cost of a gallon of milk was the bellweather for when gas would reach an unnacceptable price.

But what do we do about it?

No matter who wins in November – either Senator John McCain or Senator Barack Obama – liberty and freedom will be at peril in this nation. While these two senators have very divergent views on the War Against Islamic Fascism and foreign affairs in general, their domestic views display very little sunlight between them.

Pat Buchanan has a new book out in which he calls World War II an unecessary war, and questions how we fought it.

The great historian Victor Davis Hanson puts him on his ass with a classic roundhouse.

I have only one thing to add to Hanson's beating:  Buchanan is a Nixonite bastard of the highest order.

One of the silliest arguments of the facist left in this country is that there is absolutely no way religious freaks and fundamentalists like Al Qaeda would ever partner with a very secular (and equally facist) Saddam Hussein.

Only one problem with that argument:  it's patently false.

The estimable Michelle Malkin reports that the facist tyrants of the military junta in Myanmar are playing a horrific game with foreign aid:  they want cash, not supplies.

Like the junky panhandler, giving them cash will only continue their obnoxious and immoral behavior is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.

If we are not going to send supplies, then I suggest we give them Tomahawks.  As in cruise missiles, targeted on their homes and offices.  Or fifty caliber sniper rounds from a Barrett rifle.

It's time to stop playing nice, and start playing hardball.  They are committing a horrific crime against humanity.  And they should be held accountable for such.

Ace of Spades HQ has a great post up about how stupid Nancy D'Alesandro Pelosi really is.  It seems all that time spent at the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore was a complete and utter waste.

It seems that Lil' Nancy is SO UNWILLING to give credit to the members of the uniformed services of the US Military -- let alone their Commander-in-Chief -- that she believes that Iran deserves the credit for the turnaround in Iraq.

From the May 28th edition of the Financial Times, we learned that the Department of Homeland Security has finally gone completely batty:

The west needs a more comprehensive strategy to counter al-Qaeda propaganda and the US should stop using the term “war on terror”, according to a top intelligence official.

Charles Allen, the senior intelligence official at the Department of Homeland Security, says the phrase is counter-productive because it creates “animus” in Islamic countries.

“[It] has nothing to do with political correctness,” Mr Allen said in an interview. “It is interpreted in the Muslim world as a war on Islam and we don’t need this.”...
