A minor victory, as the world's most horrific piece of legislation, the so-called "Immigration Reform Bill" was withdrawn this evening in the Senate as Senator Harry Reid was unable to secure the sixty votes needed to invoke cloture and end debate on the bill.

But the battle is *JUST* beginning.

Remember the outrage when former Governor Bobby Ehrlich decided to start cleaning out state agencies of Democrat appointees in early 2003?  There were hearings, and investigations, and subpoenas.  The Calvert Street Communist Party Newsletter went apeshit.  In the end, we learned... nothing. Well, we learned that the governor was within his rights and the law to remove non-civil service employees with any means he deemed necessary.

And it seems that the new kid in town might be up to the same old tricks...

Why are Republicans so stupid?  With the indictment of William Jefferson (D- LA) , he of the $90,000 in a zip-loc bag in the freezer, Republicans were handed a huge pinata to beat on mercilessly.

Scooter Libby was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison today, plus a $250,000 fine, and two years probation.  For obstruction of justice about an alleged crime no one can prove happened. On to of this especially, Special Prosecutor Paddy Fitzgerald already knew who leaked Valerie Plame's name to the press when he interviewed Scooter Libby.

What should we do?
