As usual, the drive-by media has totally missed a statement by Barack Obama that should worry many. Luckily, Powerline has picked up on it.  In a speech on July 2, Barack Obama stated:

We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.

Wow.  A civilian national security force that is just as "powerful" and just as "strong" and just as "well-funded".

In its coverage of the annual NAACP Convention, the Baltimore Sun showed the intense liberal bias in its reporting.  I know that is no surprise at all to readers of this blog, but it should be highlighted, if for no other reason, that keep our boot on the neck of this worthless and miserable news outlet as it continues its death spiral into the sewers of Calvert Street.

I despise public corruption.  And while I am not a big fan of the death penalty, I do think that public officials -- elected and otherwise -- should be tarred, feathered, and run out of town on rail when found guilty of public malfeasance.

The Mayor of Washington, DC is Adrian Fenty.  He has been fighting to preserve the District's handgun ban since he was first elected.  He doesn't believe that District residents -- who suffer one of the highest crime rates per capita in the world -- should have the right to protect themselves, their families, and their property.

Of course, that silly and stupid position was vacated by the Supreme Court's recent decision in Heller.

But that doesn't stop DC Mayor Moron Adrian Fenty.  He wants to create a ban against semi-automatic handguns.

That is the result from this analysis of EPA studies by the Heartland Institute.

It's interesting how the government changed the rules of statistical analysis to result in an outcome that was more preferable to the result they wanted. 

Do they call that science?

The Heller decision recently announced by the Supreme Court is a landmark decision, for it enshrines the rights of the people to bear arms as an individual right. This is a huge victory for those Americans who believe that the purpose of the Constitution is to secure and guarantee our rights as individuals.

Of course, the ACLU and the liberal lawyers are leading the way.

Just ask the victims of former Guantanamo detainee Abdullah Salih Al Ajmi.

Barack Obama's supporters love to tout his credentials as a former law school lecturer as one of the reasons why he would make a great President. Unfortunately for them, "that dog won't hunt". For example, Obama was quoted in the Chicago Sun-Times recently, saying:

I wanted to preserve the right of local communities to enforce local ordinances and this would have overturned municipalities being able to enforce their own ordinances. We can argue about whether the ordinances work or not. But I wanted to make sure that local communities were recognized as having a right to regulate firearms.

So I guess Barry O has never heard of the Supremacy Clause?

From the National Rifle Association:

House Bill 517, Maryland’s ammunition serialization bill, received an “unfavorable” status in the House Judiciary Committee and was formally withdrawn on Friday, February 29.

HB517, introduced by State Delegate Emmett Burns (D-10), would have required ammunition manufacturers to encode a serial number on all ammunition for regulated firearms (handguns and “assault weapons”) sold in the state and would require the registration of the ammunition to the purchaser. Only shotgun ammunition would have been exempted. All non-encoded ammunition privately possessed would have to be disposed of by January 1, 2009. HB517 would have also allowed the State Police to create an extensive and intrusive database on all ammunition purchasers, paid for by a tax of 5 cents per round.

Every now and then, a victory is scored in favor of the good guys.

Apparently, Harvard is all into the segregation thing now, according to the Daily Free Press. It turns out that Muslim women on campus are "uncomfortable" using the student gym facilities when men are present, so Harvard is setting up separate times based on gender for use of the facilities.

Yes, sexual discrimination is alive and well at one of America's oldest and most venerated educational institutions.
