The law is an ass when it allows lawsuits like this to proceed.

In this case, Jose Padilla -- a convicted terrorist -- with his fellow travelers at the National Litigation Project at the Lowenstein International Human Rights Clinic at Yale Law Schoo, is attempting to pull of the great leftist coup:  use the courts to reverse acts of the legislature they don't agree with.

The law is an ass.  Kill all the lawyers.  Let's start with Yale.

In all the cultural battles with Islamic extremism, todays modern feminists are nowhere to be found.  Why is that?

I find it appalling that these so-called "pro-woman" organizations and leaders cannot find the courage to attack a culture that promotes that notion that women are property and practices the culture of "honor killings".

There is no way that I can cover this entire topic in a single blog post, but I think it is a trenchant question now that the Chairborne Brigade and REMFs (Rear Echeclon Mother Fuckers) in the Pentagon have gone and fired MAJ Stephen Coughlin, USMCR.

According to Bill Gertz at the Washington Times:

Stephen Coughlin, the Pentagon specialist on Islamic law and Islamist extremism, has been fired from his position on the military's Joint Staff. The action followed a report in this space last week revealing opposition to his work for the military by pro-Muslim officials within the office of Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England.

He had run afoul of a key aide to Mr. England, Hasham Islam, who confronted Mr. Coughlin during a meeting several weeks ago when Mr. Islam sought to have Mr. Coughlin soften his views on Islamist extremism.

So can we win the war on terror?

Charles Krauthammer has a particularly trenchant column on how silly the left's claim that George W. Bush has destroyed our alliances.

As usual, a symptom of BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) is balderdash.

Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty are reporting that the Russian Parliament has voted to suspend the Conventional Forces In Europe Treaty, a Cold War era agreement that limited the deployment of tanks and troops west of the Ural Mountains.

This is not good.

Our friends the Saudis.  That beautiful kingdom of sand, oil, harems, and Islam.  A very radical Islam, where women are little more than property.  No-- strike that, because most people treat their property better than the Saudis treat women.

Especially gang rape victims.

And these are the ones we consider moderate?

It was 28 years ago today that Iranian students -- including Mahmoud Ahdamindejad -- stormed the United States Embassy in Iran, committing an act of war, and beginning 444 days of capitvity for (eventually) 52 United States citizens (including the Marine guards).

Hey Harry Reid-- yeah, you, the Majority Leader.  Still think the war in Iraq is lost?  We haven't heard much out of your fat mouth lately on this, since you declared unequivocally in the spring that the war was lost.

Yet, the daily count of combat deaths has shriveled in Iraq.  Between October 19 and 23 there were no deaths among coalition forces.

However, here in Baltimore -- the city where your gal-pal Nancy Pelosi grew up -- there were a number of murders.  Is the city of Baltimore lost?

You can read more about it here.

Thanks to Michelle Malkin for bringing this up, since the drive-by media has no interest in reporting good news out of Iraq.  I guess if it doesn't bleed, it can't lead.

Just like the Majority Leader.

Michael Medved has an outstanding article about the failure of Hollywood to grasp what its audience wants -- demands -- when it does war movies.

Make sure you read it.

There's a huge brouhaha growing (or brewing?) over the nomination of Judge Mukaskey to be the next Attorney General and the issue of waterboarding.

The problem:  it's all bullshit.
