I think Peter should really take a course in economics before he goes off on this great crusade, wasting Marylander's tax money on a case that will go nowhere.

Juan Valdez-- MPT ViewerWith the announcement that MPT is launching a new Spanish-only TV station called "V-Meh" (pronounced "veh meh"), Maryland Publict Television continues to justify calls to end taxpayer financing of television broadcasting.  One must wonder why -- in the age of 500 channels of programming (and nothing on!) -- we even need Public Television.

The simple fact is, we don't.  And we certainly do not need Public Television exacerbating a HUGE issue of segregation and assimilation by empowering immigrants who do not speak English to go on not speaking English.

Politicians are Ass ClownsPoliticians have two fundamental responsibilities in terms of governance.  The first is simple:  to spend tax revenues wisely to meet the proper and necessary requirements of their constituents. The second is more difficult and controversial:  to wisely determine appropriate means for raising that tax revenue.

Unfortunately, being ass clowns, politicians often fail on both accounts...

Governor Martin O'Malley built his 2006 Gubernatorial Campaign around the cornerstone of electricity rate regulation and the failures of the General Assembly, Governors Ehrlich and Glendenning, and the Public Service Commission to stop the hyperinflation of electric rates.

Marty the Mick claimed that if Maryland would just elect him, he would rein in BGE and put a stop to the rapid increase in electricity rates.  Now we know the truth.  He's as impotent as the rest of them...
