Councilwomen Campbell and Cohen to Hold Open Government Public Input Meeting

In response to ongoing constituent feedback regarding open government, Councilwomen Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen invite citizens to share their ideas and concerns about increasing transparency in Salisbury city government during a public input meeting Thurs., Feb. 21, from 7-9 p.m. at Las Palmas Restaurant in the Goliath Shopping Center, next to Giant Food.

The scope of the topic runs the gamut from how meetings are conducted to gaining access to various types of information. Attendees are encouraged to bring a friend. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The two council members have also launched a newsletter currently in distribution. An online version can be viewed at: www.onyoursidesby.blogspot.com. For more information, contact Councilwoman Campbell at 410-860-0893 or Councilwoman Cohen at 410-845-0296.

There's a new Eastern Shore blog for Salisbury City Councilwomen Terry Cohen and Debbie Campbell called "On Your Side".  It's pretty clear that both councilwomen are going to start taking their case directly to the people, and I applaud them for their push for transparency and accountability in Salisbury City Government.

You can read it here or use the link in the left column.

Andy Harris fans like Jihad Joe Albero and others are lauding the State Senator's victory over Wayne Gilchrest as a "victory" for Maryland taxpayers, but they shouldn't pop the champagne corks yet.

This was no victory for the Eastern Shore, and it may end up hurting the citizens of Maryland.

Barrie Parsons Tilghman The City of Salisbury, Maryland is a quiet, enjoyable little town on Maryland's Lower Eastern Shore. I had the privilege of living there for four years -- from January 1985 until September of 1989, when I left for college.

Although I didn't realize it at the time, it was a great place to live and grow-up.  I went to one of the best high schools in the country (Parkside High School -- Class of '89 -- Go RAMS!  "White Wall Stand Tall, No Ticks Tonight!") and had some of the finest teachers you could ever hope for in any school, much less a public school.

But times have certainly changed.  The City of Salisbury is slowly descending into an abyss. The simple fact is that the city suffers from a fundamental lack of real leadership, and instead is controlled by a motley crue of self-indulgent, under-achieving, and grossly incompetent pseudo-politicians.

It's being reported by a number of sources that Salisbury City Council Grupenfuhrer adjourned the Council's work session last night in contravention to the rules of the Council (including state law, city charter, and good old Roberts Rules of Order), mainly because she could not stand the fact that the assembled crowd of taxpayers and lookers-on weren't buying the barge load of chicken manure being hauled in the room, and were vocal about it.

Louise Smith (said Council Grupenfuhrer) has thus handed the taxpayers of Salisbury an invaluable tool to oppose the Council:  obstructive destruction.

I come from a political philosophy that argues that gridlock is good.  Gridlock keeps government under control, by limiting its ability to do anything super-damaging.  That such gridlock does NOT exist in Salisbury is the reason that there is such Willful Indifference to the Law on the part of Mayor Barrie Tilghman, Council Grupenfuhrer Smith, Council Undergrupenfuhrer Comegys, and Councilwoman Step-N-Fetch It Shields.

So from now, the taxpayers of Salisbury would be wise to heed the lessons of last night's meeting:  obstructive destruction. If Grupenfuhrer Smith gets so rattled by a little heckling, some laughter, and a challenge on council rules:  KEEP IT UP.

The more that the Grupenfuhrer has to adjourn, or recess, the less the council can do.

The first thing I would do:  start handing out copies of Robert's Rules of Order.

And keep some bail money handy, in case Grupenfuhrer Smith calls in Reichsprotector Webster.

For the second year in a row, we have seen a fundamental failure in leadership, management, and duty in the fiduciary responsibilities of Salisbury City Government to the citizens of this small town on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

I am of course, talking about the recently completed audit of city finances presented to the City Council.

After reading the post about the couple near the Philly Airport on Mahmoud Albero's site, I decided to hack into the National Photo Reconaissance Office tonight and reposition a KH-12 satellite over the Delmarva Peninsula.  It took a total of three geosynchronous orbits-- and a little bit of dodging with Grazer 1 -- but after bouncing the signal off three receivers in Tajikistan, and rerouting the downlink through Bosophorus University's mainframe in Istanbul, then sublinking through an unprotected Wi-Fi point in Bozman, MT (got to love those militia types), I was able to download the following image:

Gotcha!

You can clearly see that someone cut "FUJA" into a field near The Compound.  Some creative tractor work, there.  Must have been a skilled redneck or a John Deere specialist.

I Am So DumbJihad Joe Albero thinks we are all morons.  One only needs to read the header of his site to realize this.

"Salisbury's most reliable and unbiased source for your local news?"

"This blog is opinionated only".

Okay, so which is it? One cannot be "reliable and unbiased" and "opinionated" at the same time. Anyone with a third grade education should know that opinion is bias. To have an opinion and express it is to possess a bias on one position or another.

A-S-S-H-O-L-E-- I'm an ASSHOLE!The Delmarva Peninsula's leading Cyber Jihadist, Jihad Joe Albero from Southwest DELAWARE has issued a new FATWA against the correctional officers staffing the Wicomico County Detention Center.

Apparently, Sgt. Anthony Dickerson has requested the Wicomico County Council bump the correctional officers starting salary from $29,000 to $36,000.  Sgt. Dickerson has stated that Worcester County offers nearly $10k more per year to their officers, and the pay disparity is a problem.

Jihad Joe's response:  Why don't you go apply there, then, if you don't like your job.

According to WMAR-TV (Channel 2), a massive fire involving 10 local fire companies is burning on Race Street in Cambridge.  Local outlet WBOC-TV is reporting that the fire is located at the Shore Bid Auction and Antique store building in the 400 block of Race Street.

No word from Jihad Joe if residents of Hebron should stay indoors.
