The Gunpowder Chronicle sends a big shout out and "Thank You" to Harford County District Judge Victor Butanis. Judge Butanis, showing some common sense and practicality rarely seen on Maryland's bench these days, denied bail to Glen Arm's notorious Christopher Lentz, who killed two people on the Bel Air Bypass last week. Butanis ruled that Lentz remains a threat. This was an altogether reasonable determination, given the fact that he had fled the scene of an accident not 90 minutes before killing a mother of two and her son.
According to The Sun, Lentz's defense attorney attempted to make the lame argument that because of his injuries, it was unlikely Lentz would flee. Lentz has a fractured kneecap, a fractured arm, several facial fractures, several broken vertebrae, and his jaw is wired shut. Katherine and Wilson Brady won't be going anywhere either, because they are dead. Because of Christopher Lentz.
According to the Maryland State Police, Lentz was doing 75 mph on the shoulder of the Bypass moments before the crash. Which begs the question: what was he running from then?
