Much has been made about the apparent "ineptness" of the terrorist attacks last week in the United Kingdom. But we would be foolish to assume that these terrorists were inept, certainly if our source for that are a bunch of talking heads on cable news.
First, from what we DO know, these bomb designs have all the fingerprints of AQI (Al Qaeda in Iraq) in both design and potential lethality. All that went wrong were the triggering mechanisms. That could have been the result of an inexperienced but not inept bomb maker. You can be sure that there are a few mysogynistic cave-dwelling camel-humpers in Iraq and Iran right now who will make sure that doesn't happen again.
Second, terrorists are only inept when their plots fail. They are "courageous" (according to Bill Maher) when they succeed. As any SpecOps guy will tell you, the line between success and failure is awfully thin.
Third, we do not yet know the situational motivation for these plots. They could have been what I call "possum attacks", designed to gauge response more than to kill. It's a hallmark of the Islamofacist bastards to execute a first strike, and then quickly follow up with a second when the first responders come on scene. We saw that on 7/7 with the London Tube bombings, and Israel is intimately acquainted the tactic.
What we need to understand is that we face a violent, mysogynistic, ruthless enemy that will even recruit young children to carry out their homicidal rage. We do not face a bunch of pansy-assed little high school boys upset that their daddy's olive grove was capture by Israeli paratroopers forty years ago. Our enemy hates us with every fiber of their being, and they will not stop coming at us until they are dead or victorious. No weapon in our arsenal but our steadfast determination will conquer such an enemy.
