According to the Baltimore Sun, a driver was injured when his truck rammed the guardrail on the westbound span of the Bay Bridge. The Sun goes on to say "The driver of the truck was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center around 4:15 p.m. with injuries that are not believed to be serious, according to Cpl. Jonathan Green, a spokesman for the MdTA."
Can someone explain to me why someone whose injuries are not serious is being taken Shock Trauma? R. Adams Cowley would be ashamed to know that his groundbreaking efforts in the treatment of trauma were being abused. Do you know the cost of treating a patient at Shock Trauma? Did they fly him in on one of the overused, abuse Medevac choppers? Do you know the cost of THAT?
I am getting goddammed sick and and tired of the State of Maryland crying about how much tax revenues are suffering when they are pissing our money away flying idiot drivers barely injured to a critical care facility design to treat serious, life-threatening injuries.
And I am also getting goddammed tired of hearing libtard politicians in this state talk about the cost of healthcare and insurance... when they allow this retarded behavior to go on. What do you think drives costs higher? If you answered, "Over utilization of high-cost critical care services in situations when lesser services would have delivered the same outcome", you get a cigar!
Didn't we just hear about Maryland had just changed its guidelines on the use of Medevacs and Shock Trauma? Wasn't there just a hearing down in Soddom on the Severn on this? I want to know who didn't get the damned memo. And I want to know now. I am tired of this.
It's another failure of stupid, short-sighted government here in the People's Republic of Maryland, where accountability is just four letter word to the troglodytes in the State House.
