The murder right might be down in Baltimore City, but the stupidity is definitely going up.
Item #1: Fartscape
Once again, we are confronted with weekly festival of grosteque art called "Artscape" in the so-called Arts and Entertainment District. I am not a big fan of Artscape, because I think the initials for the Maryland Institute College of Art should actually stand for Morons Involved in Collectivist Architecture, or may Masochists Imposing Crappy Art. But what really boils my skin this time every year, is the how the City of Baltimore stupidly and obnoxiously closes Mt. Royal Ave between North Ave and Maryland Ave.
This may not seem like a big deal, if you don't commute into the city every day. But the City Planning office in the 1960's, after their failed attempt to create a socialist housing bonanza on the West Side AND run the Jones Falls over the Harbor, create a new street layout that turns the Mt. Royal Ave to MLK street axis into a key thoroughfare to get from the Jones Falls Expressway to Pigtown. In short, it is the highway that should have been built, but never was.
But now, we must suffer through a week of detours, foul-ups, and morons who don't understand that you don't block intersections so that a bunch of underworked, over-scholarshiped hippies with more piercings than Xerxes and tattoos that would make a Hell's Angel blush can show their crappy art creations off.
Item #2: Red Means Stop. Green Means Go. Yellow Means Go Faster.
The Baltimore Police are only concerned with one thing: gun violence related to the drug trade. Forget about traffic enforcement. Forget about obvious red-light runners. They just don't care. People run red lights when they don't even have to. They do it right in front of cops. It doesn't matter. No one enforces the law, so why should anyone obey it. Three times this week I've nearly been hit crossing MLK at Baltimore Street-- while I had the right of way. Needless to say, "the bird" has been getting a workout. My right middle finger is starting to get sore.
And don't tell me they run red lights as often in the county. They don't.
But the cops don't care. I wonder if they care about gun violence related to crosswalks and red-light runners?
Item #3: If you are a white crime victim in Baltimore, you are screwed.
Yup, I said it. The City State's Attorney, Pat Jessamy, doesn't give two shits about you if you are white and a victim of crime. Remember the entire Zach Sowers beating? You probably don't. White guy, beat down by black thugs just feet from his Patterson Park home. Margaret Burns, Jessamy's fat white mouthpiece, says that they couldn't go the "full monty" on a case against said black thugs because "the injuries weren't consistent with a beating", and lack of witnesses. Oh, and Zach looked like a "sleeping baby" when he showed up at the hospital. So what do you do? Plea bargain! Months later, Zach Sowers dies from his injuries after being in a coma. His wife is nearly bankrupted from the medical bills.
Ron Smith has a great letter on his site here that breaks out the 20 Strikes of Racism in this case. But if you want the summary, here it is: if Zach Sowers had been a black man beat down by white thugs, Hamden would be burning right now. But since he is white, Pat Jessamy and the MSM and the Mayor of Baltimore (too busy buying that next pair of Minolos, I am sure) don't give two shits about doing the right thing, starting with firing that fat ratfucking spokesbitch Margaret Burns.
I work in the city, and have to walk from the outskirts of one of its worst neighborhoods to my office everyday. THANK GOD that I can rely on the University of Maryland, Baltimore police force for protection. THAT police force-- unlike Freddie Bealefeld's Keystone Cops -- is out, in force, on patrol, on foot, and is vigilant.
Because I now know that since I am white, I don't have a chance in Hell in the City That Bleeds.
