Ferme ta gueule

Barack Hussein Obama is embarrassed by the fact that the vast majority of Americans speak only a single language, while many Europeans speak several languages. His latest outbursts on this matter only go to prove the old adage of the United Negro College Fund:  "A mind is a terrible thing to waste."

Like all left-wing elitists, BHO has this belief that speaking multiple languages is a sign of intelligence or superiority.  He's wrong.

It is not surprising that Europeans often speak multiple languages, given the fact that they have been killing each other in close quarters for the last 800 years.  Most of Europe would fit into the Great Plains with little if any trouble.  This close proximity and interaction over the course of a millenium naturally leads to an ability to speak multiple languages.  And, as a single "union" of countries, it is not surprising that with closer integration, the languages would be part of the integration.

America, on the other hand, is a nation separated from the rest of the world by two major oceans.  The vast majority of Americans will never -- except as uniformed officers of the military, sent to save Europe from itself -- travel overseas to Europe to speak French, or German, or Russian, or Italian. English is the language of business. 

I have traveled to Turkey once, and China five times.  Even though I made an effort to become nominally conversational in Turkish, most of the people I met in Turkey had no desire to speak Turkish-- they wanted to practice their English! In China, it was much the same -- they wanted to practice their English with English speakers.  They saw no logic in me learning Cantonese.

What BHO apparently does not understand -- or does not like -- is that American culture and its language is VERY popular across the face of the globe.  In fact, our enemies even tell us this.  Our movies, our television, our books-- all are very popular around the world.  And they are all in English.  And the native language speakers in all those other countries know that they are missing a lot in the subtitles.

So he is "embarrased".    Just like his overpaid-hospital-mouthpiece wife wasn't proud of her country until her husband ran for President.

BHO would have us speak many languages, while he is unable to express a sentient thought in just one.  Here's a tip for you, Senator:  it's better to keep your mouth shut and let everyone think you are stupid, rather than confirm the fact by opening it.
