Prompted by a crazy comment over at Salisbury News regarding the number of properties he owns, we let loose the dogs to do some digging today, and we came up with some interesting twists and turns in the old Albero Empire.
Here's what we found...
1. He purchased 31.74 acres on Tingle Road in Pittsville for $150,000 in October 2005 from William and Pauline Pully. The land is rated agricultural, and is currently valued at just over $100k by the state.
2. A 32,000 square foot commercial property on Main Street currently valued at just over $88k.
3. A 4,405 sq foot commercial property at 5062 POWELLVILLE RD he paid $10,000 for in 2002, but is currently valued at just over $52k by the state.
4. Twelve properties owned -- not personally by Jihad Joe -- by an entity known as Albero Enterprises, LLC. Albero Enterprises is a defunct LLC in the state of Maryland (defunct for failure to file a property tax return in 2004). These twelve lots average around 12,000 square feet a piece, and were sold to Albero Enterprises LLC by the town of Pittsville for $1,212 each. Their current assessed value averages just under $620 a lot.
Now here is the interesting thing. My legal sources tell me that in order to sell any of those twelve lots, Jihad Joe would first have to reactivate the LLC -- and pay all back taxes and fees -- then he could sign over those deeds to himself (or sell the properties).
So there you have it, the first breakdown of the ownership of the Albero Land Empire in eastern Wicomico County.
