Does anybody know what happened to the Royal Farms that was planned for the corner of Pemberton Drive and Parsons Road in Salisbury?  For the longest time there was a "coming soon" sign.  Now there is nothing.  Did Royal Farms fall victim to Mayor Tilghman's assinine and retarded approach to small business development in Salisbury?

Or did they decide that competing with the 7-11 and GordyMart up the street wasn't worth the trouble?

I'm thinking they realized the competition was too much with Shore Stop across the street, and 711 & Gordy's a block away. If they did open, they'd put Shore Stop out of business.

There has also been a sign just like it for years at the corner of US Rt.50 (westbound) and White Lowe Road, just west of the end of the Salisbury bypass. For what it's worth, this spot is not within Salisbury city limits.

A similar situation in Harford County at the corner of Md 138 and 165 - there was a sign there for a while which has since disappeared without the introduction of a RF Store (which is fine by me and most who live nearby!)
Don't know if it's related to the Salibury situation, but a commercial building did NOT belong on that particular corner anyway!
Hopefully the zoning will be tweaked to prevent future threats...
