Let's take an objective look at this. Don't know where you are getting your info from, but you say there were 17 other accusers. I've also heard the numbers 30 and 10 kicked around in the blogs. NONE of these mystery women have gone public with their accusations. NONE of these women's cases were credible enough to try to get an inditement on. (Which is amazing since this one went forward with thin air as evidence.) To my knowledge, there is NO statute of limitations on sexual assualt in MD. But lets, for argument's sake, say it's 5 years. You have ALL these women who supposedly are now coming forward now about assaults LONG AGO, but NONE were RECENT or in the time frame near that of the the one that was prosecuted. So this guy took a break for a few years?? Not very likely if these women's stories were true. And NONE of these women came forward to authorities immediately after the alleged assaults occurred. THIS WHOLE STORY STINKS TO THE HIGH HEAVENS!
Add this to the completely unplausible story of the alleged victim he went to trial over! She was assaulted, but SAID NOTHING to anyone for 6 months, until she got pissed off over a billing dispute with this Dr. During this period, she even went back to him for ANOTHER OFFICE VISIT, and back to him for FREE MEDICATION. Oh, my, she certainly was shaken up by the first encounter!! NOTT!
This was a SETUP for a SHAKEDOWN from the word go. The hope was to get a conviction and follow it up with a nice fat civil suit for some big bucks. I suspect the "other victims" comprised people she did and didn't know, who saw an opportunity to jump on a gravy train. THANK GOD our legal system prevailed and he was not convicted. Hopefuly he can rebuild his life from the damage these golddiggers did. These type of hokey accusations compromise prosecution for women who are actually assaulted.
