Well, it's day 33 of O'Misery in O'Maryland, and we have O'Guvnah continuing to use his Dark Servants in the Hosue of Delegates and the State Senate -- with an assist from the MSM and Drive By Media -- continue to besmirch the reputation and accomplishments of State Schools Superintendent Nancy Grasmick.
Of course he chooses to ignore the fact that Education Week ranked Maryland #3 in the country for its public school system. This was quite an achievement, given the exceptionally crappy condition of the Baltimore City schools. Luckily, there are 23 other counties in Maryland to make up for the exceptional incompetence of the Baltimore City schools-- particularly under his tenure, when the school system faced a record $54 billion deficit.
(Quick trivia: where did Arkansas rank when O'Govunahs favorite Dem candidate was First Lady of the Great State of Arkansas?)
Instead, O'Guvnah likes to throw around epithets that basically claim Nancy Grasmick is a Republican Tool. Pretty funny, given that she is a registered Democrat, and her husband was one of the biggest money men for the state Democratic Party. Of course, O'Guvnah never has been much for following Federal Law (good or bad), so it might surprise him that by fully implementing No Child Left Behind, Grasmick was merely guaranteeing that Maryland didn't lose its position on the Federal Teat..
What this is really about is the fact that under O'Mayor, the Baltimore City schools were plunged into a septic pit of misery and failure for Baltimore City students. There wasn't just a lack of money -- there was a lack of fundamental EDUCATION going on. City school buildings were literally falling down around students. Teachers were flocking to the counties. Fifty percent of black freshman who entered a high school in ninth grade never graduated. Forget test scores, city schools under O'Mayor could even get kids to show up.
And so Nancy Grasmick, following the law, ordered a takeover of the worst city schools. This enraged the Irish Wonderboy, so he pulled tight on the leashes of key city legislators in Annapolis. And in pure Step-n-Fetch-It fashion, they overturned her action. Martin O'Malley ratfucked his own citizens. (Or should I say "baderinwa'd"?)
And O'Guvnah, being the mean spirited, vengeful little bitch that he is, has decided it is time to get even. So he is pushing his Dark Servants to change the rules and undo 90 years of "separation of school and politics". We forget that the current system for administering state schools was set up in 1916 because of the very same politicization of education. For a governor who regularly attacked Bobby Ehrlich for dismissing Democrat operatives from non-civil-service positions in State Government as "political acts", O'Guvnah has some serious stones here to do the same thing.
But then, hypocrisy has never been a big issue for him. Lying never has been either. And he is doing both to change a system which has worked to Maryland's advantage for 90 years.
