Over at National Review Online, David Frum holds forth an interesting alternative to an outright pardon for Scooter Libby: respite. Hmm...
It is interesting. Essentially, Bush can guarantee that Libby will not have to spend time in jail while the appeals process moves forward. He doesn't game the verdict, instead giving Libby the opportunity to live with his family while his appeal moves forward (however slowly) in the Federal system. Then, if the appeals fail to exonerate him, Bush still has the ability to pardon him.
