O'Guvnah is a HUGE supporter of Hillary Rodham Clinton. So is Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, the only Democrat candidate for Governor to lose to a Republican in 40 years. But O'Guvnah is also governor of the state which is home to the NAACP, and some pretty powerful black politicians like his Lt. Governor Anthony Brown, Congressman Elijah Cummings, and others.
So what does it say when YOUR candidate suddenly allows her husband to carry the water on a racial attack on another presidential candidate for your party's nomination?
For O'Guvnah and the rest of the Maryland Democrat Party, it says little.
<insert sound of crickets chirping here>
This is nothing new for O'Guvnah and the Maryland State Democrat party. When Michael Steele was called an "Oreo" during the gubernatorial run in 2006, these supposedly "progressive" politicians did nothing. Maryland Democrats have no problem with racialism when it supports their goals of domination and usurpation of the politial process.
One need look no further than O'Guvnah's old hunting grounds in Baltimore City to see this. Baltimore City has had Democrat Mayors continuously for forty years. Baltimore City is 70% black. Baltimore City is a warzone. It's a drug parlor. It's a black hole for education. It's a black hole for jobs. What has the Democrat Part done for blacks in Baltimore City?
Not a damned thing, except more of the same: drugs, murder, rape, welfare, and a lousy education.
O'Guvnah certainly didn't do a lot. Oh, sure, there was a light renaissance in Canton and Fells Point, and a continuation of the renaissance in Federal Hill. And the Harbor still looks pretty.
But the schools are still a fundamental disgrace, and North Ave is still one large open-air drug market. Not to mention Broadway. And Baltimore trails every other jurisdiction in the state in quality of life indicators.
But Democrats in this state can count on black Baltimoreans to vote solidly behind Democrat candidates every day of the week and twice on Sundays. And in fact, they do just that, knowing that they don't have to make any REAL change occur. They can take advantage of black Baltimoreans all they want, even as they keep them relegated to second-class status in their own state.
Not all that different from how national candidates treat black Americans, when you come to think of it. And that is racialism.
Leave it to O'Guvnah to say nothing about it. Because it is part and parcel of his power base. When HIS candidate goes out and does it, he will say nothing either. Because it is part and parcel of her power base. Just as a bear shits in the woods, Democrats play the race card to consolidate their power.
Even when O'Guvnah leads the state that is home to the NAACP. And powerful black politicians. And he has a fabulous bully-pulpit -- the Baltimore-Washington Media Market, which includes the Washington bureaus of every major news network and news agency in the world -- to condemn racialism.
That is what passes for O'Leadership in O'Maryland these days.
R. C. Stephenson would be so proud.
