Today, word came from the Calvert Street Communist Party Newsletter that the state GOP has asked the Attorney General of Maryland to investigate the fact that the House of Delegate's Chief Clerk, Mary Monahan, admitted that documentation was forged in order to support the contention that permission was granted for the State Senate to adjourn for more than three days.
Gansler's response, in the vernacular of Annapolis politics: Go Fuck Yourself.
The law obviously means nothing in Maryland. The Chief Clerk admits under oath that a key document was backdated by an underling, but this doesn't warrant an investigation?
Who do you serve Attorney General Gansler?
You serve us, we the people. Not the Governor, and not the General Assembly. In a democracy, the rule of law must be sacrosanct. It must apply equally and with equal force for all. If doesn't, then the law has no power over us. We have no obligation to follow it, to honor it, or to swear and oath to it.
The Chief Clerk of the House of Delegates committed fraud when she allowed an underling to create a fraudulent document. As part of the record of the General Assembly, that document becomes part of state law. That means that the records of state government are now fraudulent.
By rejecting outright the need for a formal investigation, you call into the question the character, integrity, and trustworthiness of your office, your department, and yourself. You call into question the wisdom of of your license to practice law in the State of Maryland. As an officer of the court, if you do not investigate this matter, you should be stripped of your Bar Membership and run out of town on a rail (preferrably after a tar and feathering on State Circle).
This is not a small political issue, a battle between political parties. This is a fraud against the Constitution of the State of Maryland, and the people of the State of Maryland. It is a betrayal of everything we work and fight for in this state.
Attorney General Gansler is an embarrassment to his profession (if that can really be possible) and to this state.
