I want to give props to Baltimore's new mayor, Sheila Pratt Dixon.  Under her leadership, Baltimore City is once again a shining example of the old adage: "You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig!"

You see, we are not even 24 hours into the New Year -- 23 hours and 4 minutes to be exact, and Baltimore already has its FIRST HOMICIDE OF 2008!

Just minutes into the New Year, Baltimore City under Sheila Pratt Dixon chalked up its first homicide as a man was shot during a robbery when he failed to obey orders from the gunman.

So how is that "new" policing strategy going Mayor? Your new Commish is doing a bang up job.  This was actually a two-fer, as it was an armed robbery that turned into a murder.

Congratulations.  It is good to see that you are continuing the fine tradition of absolutely horrendous leadership combined with the inability to protect your citizens that has marked every administration since.... well, who knows when.  It's good to see that you are proving that when it comes to being a woman mayor, "Anything you can do, I can do better" still applies.

You go girl!  Or, with the smoking ban set to go into effect, maybe we should steal a line from Virginia Slims:  "You've come a long way, baby!"
