According to the O'Malley Gazette, the fix is in on the Guvnah's proposed tax package.  Senate President Mike "ManPerm" Miller and Speaker Michael "Double Dipper" Busch feel confident that they can deliver both houses for the latest rape of Marylanders by our "beloved" government.

This deal is like watching scrapple being made.  It's a complete and utter lie by Guvnah Mick and his fellow Stalinists in Annapolis.  They have been beating this drum for over a year now, as the Guvnah has spectacularly failed to lead in address the real underlying problem with Maryland's "structural deficit":  out of control spending by the plutocrats in the General Politburo.

The whores of Soddom on the Severn have spent so many years sucking on the teats of tax coffers that they have forgotten how to budget.  How did we go from a $1 billion surplus to a $1.7 billion "deficit"?  Simple:  by increasing the RATE of spending in excess of the RATE of tax revenues.

By simply slowing the rate of growth in state programs the General Politburo coud bring spending under control and trim almost three quarters of the deficit.  That's right-- not cuts, but simply slowing the rate of growth.  The other savings could actually occur through actually cutting the size of state government.

If the legislators were serious about addressing spending, why not suspend the reimbursements they receive for using their private homes as office space?

Or, for those legislators who double-dip (collecting a pension or state/local paycheck while serving as a legislator)-- why not give up your legislator's salary?

Let's also stop the fiction that the Thornton spending is inviolate?  Most of these legislators obviously can't balance a checkbook.  When businesses see a downturn in revenues, they have to severely tighten their belts.  Why can't government?  Does the Maryland Department of the Environment need to grow at such a rate that it consumes the entire Montgomery Ward warehouse in Baltimore?

One thing I would like to see is the state of Maryland bill the consulates of foreign nations when their illegal nationals use our emergency rooms as doctors offices, or when they are arrested and use our public defender offices.

I would also like to see how many FTEs could be cut if state workers had to work anything resembling the same hours as your average middle-class private sector employee works.

How about cutting a few needless state holidays (Columbus Day, anyone?).

The resort to increased taxation is the Pavlovian Response of the Maryland Stalinist Party.  Why?  Because they think they can do a better job with YOUR money than you can.  Yes, they most certainly can.  That is how we got the structural deficit, isn't it?

The Guvnah has lied and plied his way to these tax increases, just like he lied and plied his way to become Mayor.  Remember the promised reductions in crime during his mayoral campaign?  Never happened.  Baltimore will eclipse 315 murders this year -- just 10 months after he left office.  Remember the promises to improve schools?  Never happened.  The failure rates -- and more importantly, the drop-out rates-- are as high as ever, and no one has ever found that missing $58 million. (Maybe he blew it at Scores with Eddie Norris.  Or maybe Ed Hale knows where it is.)

This Guvnah is a liar.  He is a bold-face, unashamed liar pushing an agenda to exert ever more state (and eventually Federal) control on our daily lives.  His fellow travelers -- socialists all -- are looking forward to the economic collapse that they can foist on Marylanders through massive increases in taxation.  It will give them the momentum to exert even more control and higher taxes and higher state spending.

When the Severn Soddomites arrive in Annapolis next week, we should rise up and make it known:  no new taxes! no new spending!  It stops here AND GOES NO FURTHER.

We can ill afford a tyranny of the tax collector.  Sic Semper Tyrannus!
