Baltimore holds their primary elections on Tuesday, September 11, 2007.  Of course, since Baltimore is the ultimate one-party town, this really amounts to the primary election and general election all rolled into one.

So who do I think should win?

Well, let me say this.  I would love for the same outcome of a Steelers-Redskins game:  Can't they all lose?

In the case of Baltimore City, it should be clear to any clear-thinking individual that a poorly potty -trained 4 year old could be more effective in running the city of Baltimore.

That's right.  I'd rank a four-year old with bladder control issues higher than any of the candidates.

Sheila Pratt Dixon has proven herself to be wholly incompetent in stemming the crime wave taking over the city.  The city of Baltimore is at 213 murders this year.  That is 87 murders every 100 days or so.  We will easily blow by 300 at this current pace.  Crime is the #1 problem in Baltimore City.  Lack of leadership in combatting it is #2.

Keifer Mitchell comes from a storied family in Maryland politics.  Unfortunately, some of that story is as much about corruption as it is political leadership.  The news that his father was bilking his campaign to pay for personal expenses -- and then his father kicking his campaign out of its office --  leads me to believe that Keifer might be more like Clarence III and Michael than Clarence II and Parren.

Who else is running?  Who cares. It doesn't matter.  Baltimore needs an enema, but Jack Nicholson isn't available.

Here's my prediction about Tuesday:  it will just be more of the same.

This is where a Rudy Guiliani-type could do some real good - a strong leader willing to kick some a$$, take some names (and some heat) and make a real change in the prevailing culture.
Unfortunately demographics are not the same here as in NY, so unless B-mo finds itself a more culturally acceptable (OK - they need a black guy!) candidate with the qulities Rudy showed in NY, they're screwed! It could happen, but not this time...

Having said that, please don't think that such qualities translate into Presidential material.
What Rudy did for NY will not serve the country well in terms of being our Chief Executive.

Excessive executive power coupled with a lack of testicular fortitude in the Congress is a major source of our current problems.
I'll go on a further tangent to suggest that the same line of reasoning appplies to folks like Senator Mikulski - a great representative for Fells Point - government helping people where it should - at the local level.

Translate that to the US Senate and you have a do-gooder with WAY too much power doing $h1t with our money she has no business doing.

Thanks for giving me the space to rant
