Leave it to the leadership of the NAACP to squander a century of moral authority on someone as fundamentally worthless as former NFL faux quarterback Michael Vick.

Is the NAACP so desperate for fundraising these days that they will stand up for any worthless little walking colostomy bag?

According to this article in the NY Daily News, NAACP leader RL White is schlepping for Michael Vick, the gambler-financing, dog-murdering, inhumance former NFL Quarterback:

In Atlanta yesterday, NAACP leader R.L. White was already trying to help, telling the NFL that Vick should be allowed to return to football after serving his sentence for his role in a dogfighting operation.

"As a society, we should aid in his rehabilitation and welcome a new Michael Vick back into the community without a permanent loss of his career in football," said White, president of the NAACP's Atlanta chapter. "We further ask the NFL, Falcons, and the sponsors not to permanently ban Mr. Vick from his ability to bring hours of enjoyment to fans all over this country."

White felt the coverage of the case has been unduly destructive, saying, "Michael Vick has received more negative press than if he had killed a human being."

White added that while he does not support dogfighting, he considers it as bad as hunting.

"His crime is, it was a dog," White said.

Are you kidding me?  He engages in the pre-meditated, inhumane killing of dogs-- not too mention pitting them against each other in a vicious, bloodthirsty sport.  His NFL riches supported and funded a operation that bred dogs to be vicious, and then murdered them when they weren't.  Michael Vick is a soul-less man with no moral conscience.  He's got a rap sheet longer than a roll of Charmin.

"It was just a dog."

I can tell you this much.  If someone had treated my dog that way, you would never find enough DNA from that individual to identify him.  And his suffering would be long, slow, and excruciatingly painful.  It would make the torture scene from Braveheart the equivalent of ripping a band-aid off a hairy arm.  Not only does this crime offend the laws of state and country, it offends decent human consciousness.  Michael Vick can never be forgiven because of the human love affair with dogs.

As for the entirely puerile statement that dogfighting being as "bad as hunting", this displays a level of ignorance I would typically expect from someone who is a member of a lefty organization like the NAACP.  Hunters are this country's number one conservationists.  Because of hunting, scores of species are saved from overpopulation and starvation.  Hundreds of thousands of acres of land and wilderness have been preserved and saved for both habitat and human enjoyment.  The National Parks System and the Antiquities Act exist because of hunters.  Comparing hunting to dogfighting is a statement born of ignorance, stupidity, and sloth.  It's a lazy metaphor that any intelligent person should reject.

The fact of the matter is that the NAACP is a lazy, ignorant and slothful organization.  It has squandered a century of moral authority for cheap political points.  Tell me this-- what has the NAACP done in the in the last twenty years that has really advanced the state of black America?  What have they done in their headquarters city?  Baltimore is at 200 murders and counting so far this year.  And the vast majority of those murders represent black on black crime.  What is the NAACP doing to advance the cause of black Baltimoreans?  Tell me that.

RL White and the rest of the NAACP don't deserve our respect or aprobation when they stand up for criminals like Michael Vick.  They earn nothing but our disdain and disrespect.

I saw an NAACP official say on television that Vick was wrong to have engaged in dog fighting and that in his opinion, “dog fighting is as bad as hunting.” I quit hunting years ago, but I have no problem with those who hunt legally. Attempting to lump law abiding citizens with a total degenerate like Vick shows, once again, that the NAACP is a very bad JOKE. He went on to say that Vick should be allowed to return to the Falcons after paying his dues. Maybe, but since Vick was already in the NFL when he chose to violate their gambling rules and personal conduct policy, (not to mention the most basic rules of human decency,) I believe he is sub-human, and should be banned for the rest of his life and for any future incarnations. Karma will probably take care of that. Mr. vick will most likely come back as an abused Pit Bull.

But perhaps I am too hard on Mr. Vick. We could reduce his sentence to one hour, in such a way that would satisfy those who seek justice as well as the racists at the NAACP. After serving this sentence, the commissioner should declare him eligible to be reinstated. The hour of punishment shall consist of Mr. Vick being placed in a locked cage with 100 hungry, abused pit bulls. If he comes out alive, call it even. That is providing that he performs well. If not, of course, he will have to be electrocuted or strangled or drowned!
I do see the NAACP's point that his crime being, "it was dogs." O. J. killed two people, and walked. Kobe raped a woman, and walked. Perhaps Vick should be placed in a cell with those two. Kobe could rape him, the O. J. could do his thing. Again, we and the NAACP could call it even!
