Jihad Joe is announcing that he is apparently now being sued by Mayor Barrie "Headlights" Tilghman.

I want to offer a service to the ENTIRE blogosphere.  If there are any lawyers out there reading this (Bill?  Hadley?  Don?  George?) who can slip by the courthouse and pick up a copy of the papers, let me know at blog@gunpowderchronicle.com. I'll send you my fax number, and you can fax them over to me.  I'll scan and post the entire text of the lawsuits here, and provide comments where I can.

Let me again restate that although I think Jihad Joe is a repugnant little troll, I think using the courts to silence bloggers is bad fom, and shamelessly stupid.

Joe's rights end at the very point he starts interfering with the rights of others. I don't care what it takes to get rid of him, he just needs to go away! The quality of life on the lower shore will improve dramatically with his absense.

Well, I'd like to see AlQaeda in Delaware go away too, but I think there is a higher principle here. The use of the court system by a PUBLIC OFFICIAL to silence a blogger is wrong. It's no different than the FEC complaint against DailyKos (a site that I do not agree with ever). Joe's criticism of Barbrady and Headlights might be over the top, and certainly in bad form, but PUBLIC OFFICIALS should be able to undergo that scrutiny -- vicious though it may be.

After all, Salisbury News is NOT a news site. It is an opinion site. I don't care what Jihad Joe says-- that site may contain news elements, but its core is critique and criticism. Critique and criticism are amongst the most cherished and hallowed of the forms of speech protected by the First Amendment.

Honestly, Doug Church -- in my opinion -- has a strong case than Barbrady or Headlights. But Doug is smart, and a lot more mature than any of those three dillholes.

Your comment at http://classyjoealbero.blogspot.com/ regarding the new firestation, traffic, etc. was right on. With the spirit of cooperation and community pride it could turn a "blighted" area of Salisbury around. The neighborhood children may even find some good role models.
