On Tuesday, we conservatives got a lecture and a kick to the curb from President George W. Bush, who is only still in office because we stood by him trying to do what's right for America.

And now he dares to shunt us aside like Bill Clinton's last girlfriend?

Well, I just finished re-reading Landscape Turned Red -- The Battle of Antietam by Stephen W. Sears.  This was a book given to me in May 1989 by my cousin Todd after my Eagle Scout ceremony.

In the clearest sign yet that liberal lawyers could not find their ass with both hands, a flashlight, and a roadmap, Peter Franchot is now launching an all-out assault on the oil companies.

I think Peter should really take a course in economics before he goes off on this great crusade, wasting Marylander's tax money on a case that will go nowhere.

I've been going back through my library the last month or so and re-reading some of my books -- primarily history books -- as a way to relax in the evenings before going to sleep. I thought I would let my audience know what I have been reading recently...

Juan Valdez-- MPT ViewerWith the announcement that MPT is launching a new Spanish-only TV station called "V-Meh" (pronounced "veh meh"), Maryland Publict Television continues to justify calls to end taxpayer financing of television broadcasting.  One must wonder why -- in the age of 500 channels of programming (and nothing on!) -- we even need Public Television.

The simple fact is, we don't.  And we certainly do not need Public Television exacerbating a HUGE issue of segregation and assimilation by empowering immigrants who do not speak English to go on not speaking English.

Much is being made about the results from a Pew Research poll that found that 25% of American Muslims think that suicide bombing can be an acceptable tactic.

Don't worry, we are told.  It's only 25%.

There is a good reason why we cannot take Islam seriously:  it's hypocritical.  Why apologists like CAIR claim there is widespread "Islamophobia" in the West, it is the Islamic countries of the world that continue to practice the most insipient forms of bigotry.

Take Saudia Arabia for example...

Politicians are Ass ClownsPoliticians have two fundamental responsibilities in terms of governance.  The first is simple:  to spend tax revenues wisely to meet the proper and necessary requirements of their constituents. The second is more difficult and controversial:  to wisely determine appropriate means for raising that tax revenue.

Unfortunately, being ass clowns, politicians often fail on both accounts...

The proponents of the Immigration Amnesty bill such as Senator Chivas Regal, Senator John "Keating Five" McCain, and President Jorge Bush all tell us that if we don't pass this bill, we pass up opportunities to really fix the problem.

Really?  Because we need to do it all in one big bill?

I don't think so...

In reaching a bipartisan "compromise" on immigration "reform", the White House and Capitol Hill harkens back to the darkest period of our nation:  when the Missouri Compromise enshrined slavery below the Mason-Dixon and gave staying power to the "peculiar institution".

A century and a half later, we have a new peculiar institution to that walks like, sounds like, and looks like the old one.  Illegal immigration is modern slavery.

Governor Martin O'Malley built his 2006 Gubernatorial Campaign around the cornerstone of electricity rate regulation and the failures of the General Assembly, Governors Ehrlich and Glendenning, and the Public Service Commission to stop the hyperinflation of electric rates.

Marty the Mick claimed that if Maryland would just elect him, he would rein in BGE and put a stop to the rapid increase in electricity rates.  Now we know the truth.  He's as impotent as the rest of them...
