The Gunpowder Chronicle Don't Tread On Me Search:

WARNING:  SPOILER ALERT!

I recently purchased Battlestar Galactica THE PLAN, which was supposed to be a mini-movie to wrap up many of the questions surrounding the plan of the fictional Cylons the series and the mini-series.  As you might recall, the intro of the show always ended with “And they have a plan.”  But the show, doomed after season three to pedantic, pathetic writing as it careened from gripping drama into political commentary, never resolved what the plan was. In fact, the show eventually gave up on the plan.

Well, purchasing this movie was an absolute mistake.

The simple fact of the matter is that you can see what the entire plan was five minutes into the movie, before the genocide of the human race was even initiated by the attack on the colonies.  You find out five minutes into the movie that the “Cavil” Cylons (they were called 1s) played by Dean Stockwell knew all along about the final five, and who the final five were, and what their roles were in the Cylon pantheon.

What was the plan?  Annihilate humanity in one grand conflagration to return the final five to the resurrection hub, and then bask in the glow of their glorious resurrection.

Ron Moore and the writers tried to complicate it a little more, weaving in scenes from the mini-series up through season 2.5, and re-writing the storyline a little.  Boomer (the original Boomer) is now more aware of her true nature than the series let on.  The appearance of the different Six, Four, and Five models was a little more strategic than appeared in the series.

What is also left out of “The Plan” is a further back explanation of how the Final Five came back to the Cylon homeworld and began the genetic creation of the seven models.  Or a bigger insight into the Cylon Civil War that concluded the series.

Overall, it’s an absolute letdown.  It’s not worth the money or the time.

Zero stars.
